Treat your family and friends this festive season with some gorgeous homemade gifts! Chocolates, cookies, jams, preserves and more. Quick & easy homemade gift ideas for everyone on your list.

I always think there’s something extra special about homemade gifts – lovely things that have been hand made, just for you. A thoughtful present that someone has put their time, effort and love into making and packaging up beautifully, is guaranteed to bring a smile to even the grumpiest of faces.

But I don’t have the time or patience to start knitting socks for everyone on my Chanukah list! Better to make some indulgent and tasty treats to lavish on loved ones instead.

Delicious edible homemade gifts

I’ve gathered up some simple but delicious recipes and ideas for homemade gifts, from here at family-friends-food and around the web, and sorted them out for you below. From luxurious chocolates and sweets, to cookies, pies, and preserves, there’s something here for everyone on your gift list.

A pile of wrapped gifts from above, with scissors and string.

Quick and easy homemade gifts

Most of these recipes and gift ideas are quick and easy – you could even get the kids to help with some of them! I’m sure their teachers would appreciate some home-blended festive tea, or a box of handmade truffles, instead of yet another mug or toiletries set.

So, without further ado, here’s my handpicked selection of the loveliest homemade gifts. Happy gift-giving, and Happy Chanukah!

Treat your family and friends this festive season with some gorgeous homemade gifts! Chocolates, cookies, jams, preserves and more. Quick & easy homemade gift ideas for everyone on your list.

Homemade chocolates and confectionary

Sweets, chocolates and confectionary are always a winner, and doubly so when you’ve gone to the trouble of making them yourself. I’m sure any of these treats will be very well received!

Homemade Chanukah gelt – rich dark chocolate, flavourful nuts and naturally sweetened fruit, adorned with luxurious real gold flakes!

Crispy Chanukah chocolate bark – I love the crunch of puffed rice in this, and the white chocolate dreidels are such fun!

Gooey dark chocolate tahini date truffles – these nutty, sweet, rich, and indulgent delights are hiding a secret – they’re also good for you!!

I might rustle up some of Tin and Thyme’s Whisky Truffles with Dark Chocolate & Cream for DH. Shhh, don’t tell him – it’s a surprise!

Overhead image of chocolate-coated tahini date truffles, some plain, some sprinkled with sesame seeds, some with desiccated coconut and some with cocoa powder, on a blue and white patterned plate. The plate is partly resting on a cream coloured cloth with blue edging, and part of a serving utensil can be seen to the right. Sesame seeds are scattered on the tabletop beside the plate.

Ginger pecan brittle with chocolate drizzle from Veggie Desserts sounds like all my favourite flavours in one delicious mouthful.

I can think of several people who would gratefully receive some easy microwave salted caramels, or Brazilian brigadeiro chocolate bonbons from Kavey Eats.

Coffee candied almonds from Fuss Free Flavours sound great and only take 15 minutes to make!

And even the kids can make these gorgeously simple fruit and nut chocolate buttons from Eats Amazing.

Homemade jams and preserves

There’s something very luxurious about homemade preserves. Pot them up into pretty jars and add a fancy label for added festivity.

This delicious golden grape jam is wonderful on toast or spooned over natural yogurt or porridge for breakfast.

How about some delicious citrus curds like this Easy Microwave Lemon Curd with Gin from Fuss Free Flavours, or 5-minute Lime Curd from Fab Food 4 All.

Jar with a handwritten label that says 'golden grape jam'.

Or if your giftee prefers spicy and savoury, this homemade chilli sauce from Tin and Thyme looks awesome!

Home-baked cookies & other baked goods

A cute cellophane bag of delicious cookies, tied up with a pretty ribbon and a tag, is a deliciously thoughtful gift. How about…

Truffle-stuffed chocolate orange cookies – a crisp orange cookie filled with a melting truffle centre. Need I say more?

Gingerbread Chanukah gelt cookies have all the flavours of the season, and look the business to boot!

Zimtsterne are German cinnamon star cookies, traditionally gifted and eaten during the festive period. They’re naturally gluten-free and delicious!

nutella shortbread hearts.

Easy 3-ingredient Nutella shortbread is SO simple to make, and always a winner.

These sweet hawaij coffee cookies are a sophisticated biscuit that’s perfect for dunking. Package with some gourmet coffee beans for extra brownie points.

Another gluten-free treat – flourless chocolate chip cookies – my all-time favourite choc chip cookie recipe!

Or perhaps that seasonal favourite, Chanukah mince pies with kiddush wine mincemeat. A box of these would go down very well, I think.

And who could resist a gift-wrapped babka?! Try classic cinnamon babka or my delicious Chelsea Bun babka.

Teas and Coffees

If your friends love pumpkin spice latte, they’re bound to love a bottle of this homemade pumpkin spice syrup, from Emily’s Recipes and Reviews.

Or if they prefer tea, perhaps a package of this easy festive tea blend that’s spicy, fruity, and invigorating. Wrap it up with a cute infuser and/or a lovely china mug for a delightful gift.

Flavours and flavourings

Send your friends a tasty festive season! How about this homemade cinnamon extract in the Instant Pot, or this super-easy Italian Seasoning, both from Recipes from a Pantry.

Or there’s delicious and versatile Old Bay Seasoning from Veggie Desserts. Or this fabulous looking Stone House Seasoning, or Pumpkin Pie Spice, both from Little Sunny Kitchen.

I also love to give jars of homemade everything bagel seasoning, or my favourite “spice rack seasoning” that’s a delicious blend of herbs and spices, perfect for fish.

A bowl of homemade everything bagel seasoning with optional extras including fennel seeds, caraway seeds and nigella seeds. Fingers are holding a spoon which sticks out of the bowl.

Homemade gifts for everyone!

These DIY cookie jars from Sew White are such a gorgeous idea. The recipient just needs to add butter and egg and they’ll have delicious cookies ready in moments. And of course a handy storage jar to keep their goodies in!

Whatever you gift or receive, I hope you and yours enjoy a wonderful, meaningful festive season, full of delicious eats and thoughtful treats. Happy Chanukah!
